What is WordPress?
WordPress is a tried and true solution for out-of-the-box, templatized websites. It is usually easy to install and configure and can accommodate content for nearly any type of information or industry. It has a huge support community, and a vast array of custom-function modules and themes. So, on the plus-side, WordPress is well-supported, quick to install, and inexpensive because most of the functionality has already been built right into it.
What’s the Downside of WordPress?
Because templatized website solutions like WordPress have to be usable in nearly every conceivable subject, product, or industry, it will come with many tools and functions that one may never use. This adds to it’s complexity and can really hamper it’s page-load times. If there is something that WordPress cannot do, then you’ll either need to scour the Internet for a module that can do it, or hire a developer to “crack-open” WordPress and customize it on a fundamental level. This is why it’s important to weigh the differences between a custom website and a WordPress website if you’re planning to build a new website.
“A templatized website is made to accommodate anyone with any kind of website requirements. A custom site is tailored specifically to one client’s very specific needs and requests.”
